Geographically located in the Lower North on the bank of the Ping River, Kamphaeng Phet is 358 kilometres from Bangkok. To its East are riverine flatlands while the western areas are made up of high mountains lush with fertile forests where a number of national parks have been established.
Areas along
the river bank at present-day Mueang district used to host several ancient towns which had played a major role as strategic front-line frontiers since Sukhothai was the kingdom's capital down through the times
of Ayutthaya and early Rattanakosin (Bangkok) eras. In fact, the name Kamphaeng Phet actually means as strong as walls or forts make of diamonds.
Kamphaeng Phet covers an area of 8,607 square kilometres. It is divided administratively into 9 districts, namely, Mueang Kampheang Phet, Phran Kratai, Khlong Khlung, Khanu Woralaksauri, Sai Ngam, Lan Krabue, Khlong Lan, Sai Thong Watthana and Pang Sila Thong and 2 sub-districts, Bueng Samakkhi and Kosamphi Nakhon.
Kamphaeng Phet Attractions:
King Amphoe Kosamphi Nakhon Khlong Wang Chao National Park Located in Kosampi Nakhon sub-district, the park ocupies an area Tak's Pradang and Wang Chao forests and Kamphaengphet's Khlong Wang Chao and Khlong Suan Mak forests.
Interesting attractions within the park are Khong Wang Chao waterfall. Khlong Samor Kluai Waterfall, Tao Dam Waterfall, Khlong Pong Waterfall including wonderful sceneries.

The Park could be reached either by car or by bus.
- By car, take Asia Highway (Route no.1) from town center and turn left ino route no. 1109 (Wang Chao-Loh Koh Rd.) Or from the ang Chao market, turn left into route no.1110.
- By bus from Bangkok, daily bus services (Bangkok-Tak, Lampang, Chiang Mai) are avialable. Get off the Wang Chao market and make a further trip to the park by a motorbike or songtaew. From town center, visitors could use songtaew service (Kamphaengphet-Nong Dan) on Wichit Rd, Tambon Nai Muang.
