After receiving your question we headed to the Great American Rib restaurant on Thepprasit Road, Pattaya as we were hungry and it’s also one of our favourites in Bangkok too. We chose to sit outside as there is more atmosphere with benches lit with tea lights - they even have an electronic roof that winds down in the event of rain.
Their menu offers a selection of starters such as quesadillas, wings and nachos, salads including a taco salad. Wood smoked (long and slow) ribs and chicken dominate the mains though there are dishes such as macaroni cheese and fish. We always order the half feast for around 700 baht which includes half a bbqd chicken, ribs, shredded pork, pastrami and fries, corn bread, potato salad and refried beans. This is enough to feed our hungry family of 3 plus a doggie bag when coupled with a shared starter and salad. The dessert menu is impressive with American favourites such as mud pie, apple pie and ice cream by the scoop. We never get that far as we are stuffed after the main course. The mango margaritas are definitely a must and I have not had better!!
To walk off our food we decided to stroll around the Saturday night market which opens at dusk until late, next to the Factory Outlet mall on the corner of Sukhumvit Road. Over the years this market has expanded to the size of a football field and there are many stalls offering cheap fashionable clothes, shoes, jeans, cds and dvds, handbags, aromatherapy products, dog accessories, toys, torches and batteries, to mention a few. I managed to get hold of the latest copy LV bag in pink and some Dior makeup bags which make great gifts for friends back home. My ten year old daughter bought the latest Lily Allen and Kelly Clarkson cd and our cat was presented with a new collar with bell so we can now hear him coming and hopefully the birds will too. Snack food and drinks are available. There is something for everyone at this market and if you haven’t had enough shopping do as we did and head to the factory outlets for a browse. Nautica, Lacrosse, Diesel, Nike, Van Heusen, Esprit, Disney are just a few of the huge amount of original branded names represented at this Outlet Mall.
