The island is really blessed in
that it features many crystal clear water beaches, most which are
found on the northern and eastern coasts. Should you want to reach,
say, Ao Prao beach which is one of the few on the western coast we
suggest taking the ferry from Ban Phea in Rayong province.
There is one
drawback to this National Park experience though; you have to pay to
get in. Thais pay 40 Baht and foreigners normally 400. Comment on
this rip off dual pricing? No siree, you figure it out. Otherwise
Koh Samed or if you prefer Koh Samet is a magical destination. There
are good places all over the island to eat and drink but supplies
like books, magazines and the like are in, well, short supply. Take
your own.
Here are some of
the places worth visiting in Ban Phea and Koh Samed.
